The Disciple (2010)

Jesus, an undisclosed history

As a child, Jesus witnesses the death of his father, Joseph, in a clash with the Roman troops. Years later he becomes the beloved disciple of John the Baptist, the leader of the Maccabees announcing the imminent arrival of the Kingdom of Heaven with its first consequence being the expulsion of the invading Romans. When John the Baptist is beheaded, Jesus becomes the head of the group and organizes the assault on the temple of Jerusalem. Thus, the same facts of the Gospels take on a completely different character. The project is based on the latest research which frames the film in a possible historical context.
Soundtrack
For the soundtrack, Emilio Ruiz Barrachina together with Universal Music decided to combine the efforts of three great masters; the poetic lyrics of Félix Grande (2004 National Literature Award), the voice of Paco del Pozo (1997 Cante de las Minas Award) and the composition and expertise on guitar of Daniel Casares who together create a unique flamenco style soundtrack. For the early music, Karin Rosenfeld Mordó brings the songs and melodies of Jewish tradition. The classical music is played by the Ciudad de Baza orchestra conducted by Maestro Ramón Domingo LLorente. The soundtrack will be a curiosity for the profane and knowledgeable.
